What is causing my motor to knock?
A few weeks back my car had the oil pump etc changed. With that we added a new timing belt. Well, a few days laters the tensioner went bad so we needed to get a new one. Once we put the car back together we noticed that there is an engine knock when the car warms up. From cold I can rev the engine slightly and no knock at all. Once the car warms up I can do the same. Rev it up slightly and there is now a knock. I was told that if the timing on the Crankshaft could be ahead of the mark some it could cause this to happen. Called an advancing engine knock.
Car is a 2004 suzuki forenza with around 120k miles
What do you think could be the cause?

Knock is from "per-igniton" of the fuel (it is exploding before the piston reaches the high point).
Recheck the timing,
Also, if you are using a low grade fuel it might be detonating before it is supposed to.

Check timing belt for correct settings. Clamp belt with zip ties to prevent movement during installation.
