What are the cheapest cuts of meat?
Every time I go to the store it seems like the "cheap" cuts of meat cost around the same as the better cuts. Why is this and where can I find actually cheap cuts of meat?

Beef prices went up a lot about 15 months ago. There are no cheap beef prices anymore. Even chuck is expensive. My suggestion is to switch to pork roast and chicken for the economy of it and to check for sales.

the so called cheap cuts are not much cheaper, there are some recipes that are actually better with a cheap cut however for just plain roasts they are more fatty and with bone in if not unusually tough.
The toughness can be overcome some by slow roasting. A crockpot is a desperate measure. Usually going for chicken is a better value. I know beef is a great attraction so around here we use a lot of skirt steak which needs marinating.
