The V W diesel is a FRAUD.. Can that motor be banned in the States?
This is criminal for V W to manipulate the on-board computer to give false readings. In my opinion the Germans knew what they were doing --- they got caught --- the cars that are in the USA should be bought back at full price and shipped or crushed ... Those car buyers thought they were buying a vehicle that had true specs ___ instead they were cheated, lied to, a case of fraud, EPA laws falsified, MPG's false, deceit, and all in the name of V W profits .... The V W diesel should be banned from the USA..... What do you think ???

The thing is, we know the engine is capable of meeting emissions, because when it thought it was undergoing an inspection, it modified it's operations so it would meet emissions standards.
I think the right course of action would be for VW to recall these cars and trucks, make them so they run the right way all the time, and then if the consumer notices a change in performance that they just can't live with, VW should give them a good price on the return of the vehicle based on it's mileage and condition.
VW can then resell the vehicles to used car buyers who would be buying the car knowing it's new performance standards as they test drive it.
Perhaps an award to the current car buyers could be made as part of the solution if the owners choose to keep those cars. Maybe $500 a car. I don't know what that number really should be.

What do we really know from this latest "truth'? VW appears to have been caught but Large truck engine manufacturers did a similar thing a few years ago without much penalty. VW was slowly gaining market share in the United States so who's to say this is not a ploy to knock them back a peg. You would be amazed at how politics seeps into everything. The BMW 5 passed apparently so the motor is not bad it just needs to be calibrated properly to pass emissions.

Sure, lets ban every company that has fraudulently advertised their products and attempted to falsify testing parameters.
We'll start with all US companies then work from there. Considering most US companies have been found to lie about their products, we'll be losing most of the items you buy in your daily life.

Yes, this is a very serious and cynical misrepresentation of a product that many people are still paying for with hard cash and they need a reliable and safe product in their lives - VW are well and truly busted big time !

I think there is more to be gained by fining VW. VWs are actually very good cars. Some are much better that US cars. So it would be a mistake to ban them.
