What are some reliable sites to research cars?

Sometime in the next couple of years, I'd like to get a new car. I'm just researching to get an idea of what to look for. I don't know anything about cars, so I don't know which sites provide reliable information. I need a site that will tell me about car safety, if a particular brand is high maintenance (need a car that's not in the shop all the time), etc.

    Consumers Reports and the Automobile Protection Association in Montreal would be two of the best. Not all their material is on the web, as they publish books or issues about cars, which are often available in many public libraries.
