Is either parallels or bootcamp permanent for mac?

I have VMware but my license just expired. Is either bootcamp or parallels a 1 payment thing? or do you have to repeatedly buy more and more licenses?

Update:

or is there a similar software?

I'd prefer to have a set which I can switch between windows and mac

Update 2:

*set up

I use VirtualBox on the mac. It is free, has frequent updates, pretty good performance (I've nothing to compare it to on the mac, on WIndows it seems a bit slower than VMWare player but not bad at all). Of course you will need new drivers but they are part of VirtualBox's extension pack the same way VMWare has a virtual driver disk. Virtual box can even use VMWare vmdk disk files so, in an emergency or for any other reason, you can use VMWare and Virtual box with the same disk image (not at the same time!).

How much did you pay for Fusion and what was the time length of that license?

Boot Camp is free, now and forever.

    Parallels Desktop price is $79.99/yr.

With Boot Camp, you always must restart to change OS.

With Parallels Desktop or VMFusion, you always give up about half of the RAM, since you use both OS together.
