Why is the horror genre in anime so popular?
Like honestly, it's as if every anime fan's favorite genre is horror or thriller or something along those lines. And to be honest, I haven't even seen a legitimately good horror anime (apart from Monster), and trust me, I've seen nearly every "good" horror series. Most were bad, and the others barely stood out.
Why do they love horror so much, when most of the shows are just flat out bad?

I know of horror anime but haven't watched many, anime is diverse in genre and you can find a lot of shows in any genre. Most horror movies I've seen haven't been good in my opinion, but what's good or bad is subjective.
