1/4:1/2=1:x solve for x in the following proportion. Carry division two decimal places as necessary. Help please?

Please solve step by step so I can learn how to solve this.

    You want the number on the left side of the proportion to be 1, so multiply by 4.

    .. 1/4 : 1/2 = 4/4 : 4/2 = 1 : 2

    x = 2

    Set up ratio equation

    1/4 / 1/2 = 1/x

    Multiply both sides by x

    1/4x / 1/2 = 1

    Multiply both sides by 1/2

    1/4x = 1/2

    Multiply both side by 4.

    X = 1/2 * 4

    X = 2

    This makes sense since 1/2 is twice as much as 1/4.

    note : 1/2 is twice 1/4...thus x = 2
