Downloading older PC games?

I was thinking about trying to download older PC games on my laptop which runs on windows 7. Stuff like older Need For Speed games ect. I searched for them and most of the sites seem a little sketchy. I don't mind paying a reasonable price if need be. Can any gamers recommend a good site or place to download older PC games that are compatible with newer operating systems?

For old PC games, Good Old Games ( http://www.gog.com/ ) will likely be your first stop as it deals in old PC games... usually from the late 1980's to 2000 in addition to current titles. Classic games generally run $20 or less (Most costing either $6 or $10) a piece normally & are geared to work on current systems (utilizing utility programs & disc-less modifications). All games are DRM Free & does include a 14-day base refund with a 30-day extended (which requires some troubleshooting attempts) refund.

For games like Need for Speed & other EA-released games, Origin ( http://www.origin.com/ ) might be a better option to get your fix. They have some older titles as well, but it's mostly geared towards the new stuff.

Steam ( http://store.steampowered.com/ ) is pretty much the general "catch all" for all PC games. While it's lacking on "classic" titles, they're working with publishers to release those old games added to their catalog. Prices there varies greatly, but they also have the most consistent sales as well.

Beyond that, you'll have to tread into pirate territory... which leaves a LOT to be desired.
