Do prisons have their own detective squad?
Lets says to investigate murders or other major crimes.

They have internal investigation units but normally whatever state investigative agency (state police, bureau of investigation, rangers (Texas) would investigate suspicious deaths.
Despite movies murders, and rapes for that matter are rare for those in prison or jail.

Well violent crimes are usually swept under the rug in prisons but to answer your question i see the first answer has already done so
