How do I upgrade my Windows 8 laptop from 7 to 8?
So a few years back I bought this Windows 8 Laptop and eventually I gave it to my mother since I got a new desktop. She didn t like Windows 8 so she got a friend to downgrade it to Windows 7 for her.
Now she upgraded to a new computer herself so she returned the laptop to me still in its Windows 7 state with all her flies on it.
So my question is how do I upgrade the laptop back to Windows 8? I d really like to use it again but Id like it to go back to Windows 8.

If the laptop came with Windows 8 pre-installed then it is likely to have a recovery partition that you can use to do a factory restore to the condition it was in when you first took it out of the box. Check with the laptop maker if you need help doing this. If you have no recovery media to reinstall Windows 8 you can check with the laptop maker to see how to order that. Most makers will provide the media free, as long as you pay a small shipping and handling fee.

Follow the steps in the following link to upgrade from Win 7 to Win 8, you will need to have the Win 8 license key (should be on a sticker underneath the laptop if the original OS was Windows 8) -> http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/upgra...
***Note: Do not be tempted to upgrade to Win 8.1 directly if your original OS is Windows 8. The license key for 8 will not work for 8.1. Simply upgrade to Win 8 and later run the 8.1 update, which is free, but only if you have Win 8. (That's Microsoft for you).
