We have several needs that are as basic as safety and food and shelter -- all of which are satisfied by money. After that, we move into the psychological needs of belonging, esteem, and finally "Self Actualization."

In short, Trump has made his fortune, he's got his name on everything, and he's looking for the one thing that will give him his name in history books. There are only so many times you can get a thrill from seeing your name go up on a building before the thrill wears off. He wants the final thrill of seeing his name in history books. He wants to crown his life with the presidency. This is his form of "self actualization."

Because he has loads of money and can basically do whatever he wants because of that. Maybe his businesses bore him now, who knows. I don't enjoy him and I don't think he'll make it all the way to the end, but the fact that he can run and run well shows how frustrated Americans are with this circlejerking game that all politicians play.
