How to stop telemarketers from calling our home?

First of all, call centers use computers to generate the calls, usually, these days, or everyone is given a list of numbers to try to reach, which may overlap. Secondly, it can take awhile for a flag on a number to be recognized in a computer, so it seems that maybe you did not talk to the first caller long enough for the computer to register your name as having been contacted, or else it took the lady a few minutes to get you into the computer. I use caller ID and normally do not answer my phone if I do not recognize the number, unless I am expecting a call back from someone.

I just always recommend people to always ignore every incoming call that comes from number they don't recognize. I usually look up the number on sites like http://whycall.me/ before I decide to answer those calls. When I find that the number has been flagged as scam/telemarketer calls by people, I just don't answer it.

Get your number put on the Phone Preference Service for your state or

country. Or only pick up the phone for numbers that you recognise.

You don't have to answer the phone. Use caller ID. If it's someone important, they will call back.

Just put the phone on mute and let them talk to no one. They get bored.
