Can Melatonin be used as a permanent sleep aid-one pill before bedtime? A pharmacist told me it should be used only for a few days.?

I am healthy but have sleep problems. My problem is I go to bed very late and have trouble getting up. I do not wish to take sleeping pills.

When you take a substance like Melatonin, which is found naturally in your body, your body will eventually stop making it's own Melatonin. SO, it is not recommended to take long term. AND taking the lowest dose possible, is a good idea. High doses are not necessarily better.
