99 dodge durango, idle problems.?

I have a 99 Dodge Durango 5.9L 4x4 some days it runs great others it idles weird and will stall out when stopped at a light. Only happens every couple weeks like today it has been doing it, but has been great the past couple weeks It has around 206,000 miles on it and I trust it to go anywhere starts great, and when it does stall always fires right back up but don't always stall just a really low idle. I noticed that the last couple times it has acted up when I apply the gas pedal to leave from a stop it's don't want to move and slowly rolls for about 5-10 seconds and then takes off and no problems what so ever, and days its not acting up it drives just fine no problems nothing. It has been well maintained since new and runs better then some newer cars but wondering what my problem may be.

Idle speeds are controlled by the computer via the IAC and also based on voltage readings from the TPS for a closed throttle. Low idle, hard starts or stalling can be due to a dirty or defective IAC or TPS issues if it runs well otherwise and no issues with vacuum leaks which can also cause stalling. Turning on AC should raise idle speeds slightly and may help with stalling as a temporary measure.

I'd start by cleaning or replacing the IAC and the bore it sits in which can get sooted up with carbon over time..and test the TPS for proper readings. ...they can sometimes develop a flat spot in the rheostat which will send wrong voltages to the computer that the throttle is still closed when it's actually cracked open a bit which can cause a lag in throttle response.Or improper TPS readings may cause the computer to set improper IAC settings. Replace TPS if needed.

For a 99 model truck with high miles, it's likely due for some other cleaning of the TB and MAF sensor...special TB and MAF spray cleaner sprays sold at parts stores and DIY info found on websites or Youtube vid's. Replace air/fuel filters if due and run some Seafoam or Techron additive in the fuel tank to clean injectors.

    Testing TPS...

Mine had that problem as well. It seems a common problem on all. I replaced the ECM after all the drama and it stopped.

I bought on ebay at the fraction of the cost.
