hydrogen peroxide in my eye. should I go to the doctor?

I thought it was contact solution, the bottle never said I couldn't use it in a regular contacts case. it turned out to be lens cleaner. so I put in my contact, and it STUNG. I didn't even get it completely in, it just got in my eye but not fully onto it. I got it out before it slid over my pupil. the second I touched my eye with it it started burning. I waited for the burning to cool off and put a new pair of contacts in, then about 30 minutes to an hour later my eye was super red so I googled it and rinsed my eye like it said to. my eye was itchy for a while after that, but it stopped burning.

I wore my glasses for the rest of the day and the one after that, and most of the red has gone down. it's only in the bottom left side of my left eye now. when you pull down my bottom eyelid, it looks REALLY red down there. I wore my contacts to school today and took them out when I got home. my eye doesn't burn or itch anymore, it just feels uncomfortable. I guess it's on the stinging side still, but it's very veeeeery mild. occasionally it'll sting for a like a second and go away.

I don't know whether I should go to the doctor or not. my mom just lost her job and we're really tight on money- I don't want to make her spend it on me. and then they'd probably tell me to stop wearing my contacts and just wear my glasses, but I didn't update my glasses to my prescription like I did my contacts so my glasses are still pretty blurry. my mom would have to pay for new glasses, too.

Might be good to see a professional. Did you rinse eyes under clean water ?

I would suggest to leave the contacts OUT for a while until things get better. Have glasses?

Well without a doubt you need to not be wearing contacts until all the redness is completely gone. Even though your glasses are too weak not seeing perfect, unless your driving, your better off with blurred vision. I know that nearly everyone has the same issues as you do have by not keeping their glasses updated. it is expensive to keep up with both so you tend to go with your contacts and let the glasses go.

I have the perfect answer for you my dear. continue getting your contacts from your ECP (eye care professional), but start getting your glasses on line. If you have never ordered glasses n line i'm sure it seems scary, but really there are a good number of really good places that you can get some very nice glasses in your exact prescription and not be breaking the bank to do. Check out Zenni (zennioptical.com) you can get glasses in your prescription for as little as $6.95 but they have over 800 women's glasses for under $12.95. You can even add on the optional AR coating (anti-reflective) for another $5.00. Shipping is only $5.00. All you need to do is ask for a copy of your prescription from where you get your eyes examined and be sure you say for glasses not contacts because the can be slightly different from each other. Also since that is where you get your contacts they should not mind providing you with your PD (pupil distance) which you will need to order your glasses. If your doctor objects then you need to find a new doctor because they should understand that you can't afford to be paying for not only a contact exam every year but also contacts. Anyway I very highly recommend Zenni and I am sure you won't be disappointed either.

I would go a chemist and buy some eye wash with the little plastic eye cup. Flush your eye as many times a day as you can (bearing in mind you have to go to school) This will help with any inflammation you still have. I know you are worried about finances, but wearing glasses that have the wrong prescription is very damaging to your eyes. Hope the inflammation is getting better. Going to a doctor, they would probably just prescribe some anti-inflammatory eye drops or tell you to bathe them in a sterile eye bath.

First of all, the bottle and the package it came in did have warnings. If just part of your eye is red, like the pictures in the link, it is fine to wear your contacts and your doctor will not be able to do anything for you.

Use eye drops for emergency help.
