I have the offer for a free windows 10. i would like to know if Windows 10 will force me to buy more current software.?

Update:

I have a very old copy of excel, word and whatever came with it years ago. I do use it and it is just fine. Will Windows force me to buy a new copy?

Update 2:

Just to let anyone know that cares, it seemed to update all by itself. I don't believe I pressed anything to make it download. It works just fine with my old software and everything is there. It's just a little different but easy to figure out.

What version of Office do you have? I'm assuming that you have 2003?

It looks like it's not officially compatible with Windows 10, but it may run with Compatibility Settings. This may or may not work.

If you absolutely must use the older versions then it'd be wise to stay with whatever Windows you have. Better not risk it.

However, Windows 10 gives you 30 days to go back to your old installation of Windows, so you might consider getting the upgrade and see if it works.

Office 2007 and later will run on Windows 10 - Office 2003, 2002, 2000 will run after doing previous version (compatibility) configuration but give regular error dialogue boxes making it a complete hassle. If you want to bump up to 10 try LibreOffice and keep track of your 30 day window to revert to the previous OS if it is not working for you. Do not delete or uninstall anything from your computer during that 30 window if you might want to go back to the previous OS.
