    Unless it is a local colloquialism I do not think it means anything. Tthere are a few still in Edessa with the same surname.

    I will venture this, It childish language tsitsa or tsisa is the word for pee and to take it a little further it may had been given to a child who was peeing too much, but that is a far fetched explanation. I just mentioned it for the fun of the significance.

    The explanation given of being of Slavic origin is far more likely, since the region was till about 1 century ago commonly inhabited by Slavs too.

    Might be she is Macedonian native. The maiden name Tsitsankas is similar to many Macedonian names as Tsitsonkov (Цицонков), usually in Shtip, Eastern part of Republic of Macedonia.
