What's better Emerald or Princess Cut Engagement Rings?

I was actually wonder the same thing and did a little research the other day. They are both very popular cuts. The emerald is a more unique “step-cut” but will highlight the clarity of the diamond so be prepared to spend more if you really want the ring to shine and show off its brilliance. With the Princess cut engagement Ring you can usually find a better deal with a lesser quality diamond that will still look good. It really depends on your budget and if you want a more unique cut or not.

I prefer emerald cut, but it requires a good stone.

It is meant to show off the right stone, but really needs a couple of small brilliant cut baguettes on either side to give it life.

Princess cut is a way to hide flaws, and tend to look unfinished - it's a newer cut and lacks the sparkle of a brilliant cut. It's "neither fish nor foul".

Better is a matter of what is available to you, and which you prefer- and that will depends upon what individual diamonds you are trying on. Once you try them, it shouldn't be hard to decide. Go someplace reputable, instead of shopping a category, a cut, or an idea. Each stone is different, and one will says it's yours.

I like both but I'm partial to princess.

If my husband had proposed with a emerald or even the solitaire cut I would have still said yes.

Neither are "better" because everyone has different tastes. Personally, I hate both because I prefer stones to look rounded, but I REALLY dislike emerald cuts because they look like fake costume jewelry to me, something about the cut just looks lazy.

One cut is no better than the other.... Emerald cuts are more unique (in less demand) & cheaper but it all boils down to personal choice.
