Well, I have ADHD, and so do a couple other people in my close family.

Your child, if she/he has extreme ADHD, I would reccomend an IEP for school, if you haven't gotten it already. And if the ADHD is minor, but still makes a difference in school, there is also an option of getting a 504. Which is the same as IEP, but gives a little less assistence in school life.

When I was young, I did have extreme ADHD. My parents would make a huge effort to do whatever they could. My parents sat with me everyday after school, helping with homework, made me do extra paractice problems, sample district test... everything. Eventually, and surprisngly, I sort of had control. The control I had was that I was able to identify when I became distracted,(not always) but with my parents constant nagging about good school grades, and me wanting to live up to their expectations, I got very good grades in school,(even though I had to study harder than anyone else) and I was a well-rounded person.

The best thing is to have patience. It takes years to not exactly "get better" or "get rid" of it, but live with it and handle it. And the only way your child can do that is with your immense support.
