xp on broadband connection problem.?

    You need a modem between the line coming from your ISP and whatever device, such as your XP computer, you want connected to the Internet. You must have the right type of modem to match the type of connection and signal that your ISP is supplying. Many ISPs supply a modem as part of the Internet package.

    If you want to connect more than one device, or you want to connect devices by wireless (WiFi), then you will also need a router. Some routers include an integrated modem, while others require a separate modem.

    You will also need a login username and password to connect to your ISP if your are using a DSL type of connection. If you are using cable, then the MAC address of the modem will need registering. In both cases you should talk to your ISP about the completing the connection.

    I am trying to connect my new internet broadband cable to my xp computer....But none of the ways I have tried are working...It just wants a dial up connection I think...Any ideas?
