Is walking 2 1/2 miles per day good for losing belly fat?

Ok, so I just started going for a walk lately and today is my 4th day. I am 21 years old, height: 5'8, and weigh 170 pounds. I been walking about 2 1/2 miles everyday and I plan to keep it like that for a while. Walking that distance takes me about 40 minutes to complete. I also recently changed my diet, and am now eating more healthier meals. I have stopped eating processed foods like hotdogs, corndogs, hot pockets, lots of pop and other similar stuff that I used to eat on a daily basis (which is bad). Instead, I am eating meals like fish, eggs, chicken tenders, egg tacos, vegetables, fruit as well as drinking more water.

The main reasons I am doing this is so I don't potentially become a diabetic and want to shed off my gut. I am rather skinny overall, and am extremely unfit atm.

So, do you think that walking 2 1/2 miles everyday while eating healthier will help me a long ways? When do you think I can expect some change? (I just started last week basically)

You are going in the right direction but that wont really shift your belly. All exercise should be brisk ie faster than normal so add on some cycling and swimming also and bye bye belly - maybe a little less gaming to

Choose faster-paced types of yoga such as Ashtanga or maybe Vinyasa to burn more calories while also buying a good stretch.

Chewing your food thoroughly will not only make digestion easier, but will allow your body time to recognise if it is actually full, thus preventing overindulging.

As soon as you wake up, eat breakfast when you can. This kick starts your metabolism to operate at a higher rate and burns more calories throughout the day.

If you eat when you’re stressed, try munching on pumpkin as well as sunflower seeds. You’ll need in order to chew more, which will dissipate most of that energy, but without introducing calories.
