Do you have to be a citizen to teach public high school?

    I have friends who are now citizens but are immigrants from Ukraine who teach at universities in the U.S., and one of them taught at a high school, too - all while having green cards but before becoming citizens. I had a teacher in high school who was from Brazil but had a green card rather than citizenship. But I guess it would depend on the requirements of each school district as long as the status was legal.

    It probably depends upon the country. I know of people who have taught in foreign countries temporarily, and weren't citizens.
