CRUISE SHIP MUSICIANS! What are the songs that I needed?
I'm planning on applying as a cruise ship musician after i graduate. But I don't know what songs/repertoire i needed? I don't have too many songs because I'm just a new breed musician. My teacher told me to try to audition in a cruise ship. I think I have a fair reading skill.
HOW?

If you want to work on a Carnival or Royal Caribbean cruise line then any songs from the 2000 to now would be great. Only the most popular songs. Plus know several songs from the 60's, 70's,80's, and 90's is something you will need. If you are working no Princess, Celebrity, or Holland America focus on the 50's through the 80's. Be sure to know some country as well, some big band, and classic rock.

First get some experience in wedding bands, which play a variety of music. Learn to play four or five instruments really well. When you have experience in several bands, you will need to send a sample of your playing to the cruise lines employment offices. It can be a lonely life unless you make friends with single middle aged and older women taking a cruise alone.

A professional musician doesn't have to worry about that. If you can read music and don't mind the low pay you are good to go.

If you can sight read sheet music, then you can play anything they need. You also need to know how to improvise and change keys on the fly.
