One that suits your lifestyle and you will enjoy spending time with.
Since we don't know you - we don't know if you like to hunt and want a hunting dog, you like to jog and want a jogging partner, or you just want a quiet companion to lay at your feet and chill with you.
There are hundreds of different breeds / types of dogs out there. Many have special drives and instincts bred into them to be more helpful to people.
You need to make a list of what qualities you want in a dog (and don't want), and be honest about how much time and effort (and money!) you are willing to put into a dog before you get one.

The type that suits your lifestyle best eg there is no point in owning a b/c if you have nothing for it to work at. Otherwise you will end up with a very frustrated and often unruly dog that you have difficulty in training

What type of person are you?
Some breeds require more grooming than others, exercise than others, etc.
Also depends on how much time you have on your hands and money.
