Overdriven composite signal cure?

When the adverts come on my composite connected rear projection TV has fast flashes of intensity. I assume the signal is too strong and needs damping down. If so, what s an easy way to do that, even adjustably? It only happens on one channel.

A TV station is a "polygot" of video created by different studios for TV shows, movies and commercials. This is why it is really hard to calibrate your TV for TV channels - every show is different in terms of it's average brightness.

Anything you did to reduce the brightness on your TV will affect EVERYTHING on the TV, not just that channel or just commercials.

I'm afraid it is time to give up on that old standard def RPTV. Let it get hauled away and update to a HDTV.

Since it happens on only one channel,

it is definitely caused somewhere other than

    in your setup,

so there is nothing you can do about it.
