I bought a fixer upper motorcycle with no title in SC and I live in GA. Can I get it titled?
I really need help ASAP.
He said he doesn't even have a bill of sale and he bought it from a friend. Sounds sketchy to me.. No papers or nothing but read this section "Buying Without a Title or Registration" and give me your input please..

You "bought" nothing because it was not the property of the person you handed money to, and it looks like there was a long chain of people doing that.
You can't get title because you can't show ownership without a signed current title. You do realize I hope that the motorcycle could be listed as stolen, or have a lien on it?
There are a couple of ways to get title, neither easy. You can take the VIN and go to the local police station, explain your problem, and see it they will run it to check on liens or stolen, and who the real owner is. They may or may not. If not try at the DMV.
Other is the complicated and expensive bonded title procedure. You generally need a cash bond for the market value of the vehicle, and then the DMV does the search and it can, in time, lead to a title. It can also lead to you losing your bike and the money if there is a lien or it was stolen.
So, what you have really, is parts. Unlikely you will get a title.

No you can't get a title. The true owner (you are not the owner) can get a duplicate title but you can't. You have simply given somebody some cash for a lawn ornament or something you can only use for parts.
By the way. A "bill of sale" is useless and not worth the paper it is written on. A Bill of sale simply shows that you paid somebody for something.
You have been conned .

Sorry, chum, you must have the title. Otherwise, there is no proof of ownership.
Update: Do you have a bill of sale from him? It says you need one. I can read. Is it older that 1985?
Why don't you call the local tax assessor office. GA uses the tax assessor for plates.

You are all wrong, I went to the DMV and had them send for a title warning to the OG owner and he didn't reply so they gave me the title after he didn't accept the responsibility to own the bike. Thanks a lot, oh wait, never mind, you weren't really any help.
