What are Christians views on homosexuality?

Why do Christians oppose homosexuality? And homosexual "marriage?"

Because we believe God. We believe God has given us a moral code to live by, and we understand this is an abomination because God said so. And even our common sense tells us this is against nature.

We oppose this because WE FEAR GOD'S JUDGMENT.

I am not talking about individual judgment. Christians are not subject to judgment because we are forgiven. But we are still part of this nation where we live.

The Bible makes it clear that nations are judged by God. And based on the cultural changes we are seeing in our nation, it seems very apparent that we (as a nation) are turning our backs on God. And we are seeing signs that God is WITHDRAWING HIS HAND OF PROTECTION on this nation.

Part of God's hand of protection is the RESTRAINT OF EVIL. And now we are seeing signs that God is not protecting us from evil. EXAMPLE: When a guy with a gun goes into a grade school, and kills little children, this is an example of evil not being restrained. The Boston Marathon bombing is another example of evil not being restrained. And do you remember that movie theater shooting? And these other more recent school shootings? We can expect to see more of this as we continue to reject God. When we reject God, then God rejects us. That's what it says in the Bible.

Our crumbling economy, high unemployment, corrupt politicians, the national debt that will crush the next generation, are all signs that things are falling apart. (Refer to 2 Chronicles 7:14.)

History has shown us that nations rise, flourish, and eventually decay. And the decay always comes from within. It is the natural course of things. Is our nation on the decline at this point? Most people would say that it is.

God created humans to engage in sex only within the arrangement of marriage between a male and a female. (Genesis 1:27, 28; Leviticus 18:22; Proverbs 5:18, 19) The Bible condemns sexual activity that is not between a husband and wife, whether it is homosexual or heterosexual conduct. (1 Corinthians 6:18)

While the Bible disapproves of homosexual acts, it does not condone hatred of homosexuals or homophobia. Instead, Christians are directed to “respect everyone.”—1 Peter 2:17, Good News Translation.

Can a person be born homosexual?

The Bible doesn’t comment directly on the biology of homosexual desires, though it acknowledges that we are all born with a tendency to go against what God commands. (Romans 7:21-25) Rather than focus on the cause of homosexual desires, however, the Bible prohibits homosexual acts.

How to please God despite having same-sex urges.

The Bible says: “Don’t be controlled by your body. Kill every desire for the wrong kind of sex.” (Colossians 3:5, Contemporary English Version) To kill wrong desires, which lead to wrong actions, you need to control your thinking. If you regularly fill your mind with wholesome thoughts, you can more readily dismiss wrong desires. (Philippians 4:8; James 1:14, 15) While you may struggle greatly at first, it can become easier. God promises to help you to “be made new in the force actuating your mind.”—Ephesians 4:22-24.

The same struggle is faced by millions with heterosexual desires who wish to conform to the Bible’s standards. For example, those who are single with little prospect of marriage or who are married to a partner who is unable to function sexually choose to control their sexual urges despite any temptations they might face. They are able to live happily, and those with same-sex urges can do so as well if they truly want to please God.—Deuteronomy 30:19.

Christians are people who follow the teachings of Christ. His most important commandment was to love your neighbour. Christ taught love, tolerance, acceptance and compassion. Christians might not agree with what homosexuals do in bed but they have no problems with homosexual people.

On the other hand there are the Old Testament Fundamentalists who call themselves Christian but do not follow the teachings of Christ. They are particularly obnoxious and fulminate against homosexuals, cherry picking the verses in Leviticus etc that apply to homosexual acts but ignoring most of the rest. Christians are fine with homosexuals, fundies are hypocritical bigots.

As a Christian, I don't really understand homosexuality. But I understand that it is a sin and that it goes against God's word. But I do not judge others who are homosexual, because God says not to judge those outside the church, because they do not know they are sinning. And some people out there are really struggling with their homosexuality. A lot of them don't want to be homosexual, and for Christians to bash them for it is very wrong! Instead of bashing homosexuals, I pray for them. I know what some of them are going through, because I used to struggle with being bi-curious. But God brought me through it, and I know he can do the same for homosexuals, transgenders etc. I see homosexuality a little like being envious of lustful. Being envious and lustful is known as a natural thing, that's hard to control. But God doesn't make us envious or lustful. But with Gods help, he can help us through it.

Leviticus 18

They are fascinated in it, as evidence by the huge number of questions they ask about it here. Like children banned from doing something, it makes them more determined than ever to do it. Most Christians appear to be struggling with sexual desires, which the priests try to take advantage of. It's a sick religion. Islam is exactly the same.

Homosexuality is like adultery a serious sin against God. (Romans 1:26,27; Leviticus 18:6)

It is a psychosocial disorder. Simply having the disorder is not a moral issue. God's Church has many homosexual members, doing their best to live according to God's holy will, just like the heterosexual members. However, sexual activity outside of marriage is sinful, regardless of one's sexual orientation, and since homosexuals cannot validly marry, they must abstain from all sexual activity.

Which Christians?

I have friends who are both Christians and homosexual.

I have other friends who are both Christians and anti homosexual.

Now the Christians are trying to prove they're not homophobes and stuff.

How hypocritical. Just read the Bible and what their "all-loving and tolerant" god did to Sodom and Gomorrah.
