If there were ever a ban on ALL vehicles, what ways could this harm the economy?

This economic question is for my debate class. We are debating on climate control and someone brought up the idea of banning ALL cars effective immediately. In what ways could this hurt the economy?

How would you get to work?

If you bought something heavy how do you get it home?

How would stuff get to the store?

    Where would your garbage go?

If you just want to ban the auto, then we go to horses for transportation, which we did for a few thousand years. The car solved a major pollution problem of the 19th century. The is that cities were choking on horseshit.

And, horses create methane, which is a more powerful greenhouse gas than CO2. So, even there, you may not be saving much in the climate change game.

All goods must be produced locally.

People would be far less specialized.

There could be no "heavy industry"

If people cannot move, the economy cannot move as well.
