Order him a buttercream cake from a a good bakery and either cook him a very nice dinner or take him out to a buffet.

GIVE HIM SEX!! cannot get any cheaper than that. I have always liked receiving good cologne like Calvin Klein Obsession or Chanel Allure. A cheap watch is simple and practical if he has a game system a used game or two works well. Pajamas or lounging outfit is nice idea. Cook his favorite meal.

$5 dollar pizza $1 dollar pop.

Make him a special dinner @ home ... with candles .. fabulous music - a handwritten letter (dated) telling him what he means to you - and wishing him a happy birthday .. have his favorite foods - his bath water drawn - a birthday cake made by you - give him an oil massage ... maybe have a bottle of wine - look great for him ... just do it @ home but do it up right for his special day.

and sex is something that should be a given in a relationship like that. not a birthday present. if you dont have the money to buy him something, make sure he does not buy you anything, and make him something thoughtful. something sweet that shows you love him.

Food items. Seriously, get something super nicely packaged and they will thoroughly enjoy it. Bought mine a $5 box of chocolates and that person thought it was the best and was happy about it. They know I don't have much money and I know they LOVE chocolates.
