My Dell laptop modem seems to be old.?
Right next to my router, my laptop barely registers 20mbps. With the ethernet connected, I get almost the full 100mbps I am paying for.
What are some options for fixes???

Any laptop, especially with wireless "G:" mode will only get 20-22Mbps over wireless, that is the fastest user data rate any G mode will give. Simple fact of life...
A fix would be to buy a wireless N adapter, that may get you up to 35-40mbps with a 2.4Ghz router. If you want 100mbps, you need a router with 5Ghz band (AC mode router), and a wireless adapter that is 5Ghz AC compatible.
