air compressor?

Hi. I want to buy an air compressor for wood shop work. I make projects such as tables and cabinets. I like to get a cheap compressor but I don't know what kind. I mean I don't care what brand but for this type of work I need to know how many gallons is OK, psi and everything else that I need to know. I found one for $50 2 gallon but besides being good for inflating tires, can it be good enough for tools that are meant for making furniture.

Thanks

A 7.5HP Eaton Compressor would be great for all your wood work. That can carry out other works as well for you. Talking about specifications, this compressor has a pump at 29CFM @100psi / 26@175 psi with 80 Gallon capacity. A vertical one to save your space as well.

if you are just going to use a small compressor for nails guns it will be enough

if you want to do spray finishes you will need a larger tank, at least 30 gallons

if you are going to be using air sanders, drills, etc, a 60 gallon tank would be best as those types of tools require a large continuos supply of air

you need to make sure the cfm output of the compressor meets the demand the particular tool needs

steven, that depends on the type of sprayer you have - there are different types and thicker liquids may need a much higher pressure and volume to atomize it - like a polyurethane

and no I am not insane according to the tests I have been given

To run air tools apart from tyre infators, CFM is more important.

Cubic Feet/Minute which is air delivery.

Depending on the air tool they can be very air hungry !

I have a 50ltr 2hp compressor that in adequate for most workshop needs.

Air drill, die grinder, air nailer etc

Most air tools run at about 6 bar or just over but the cfm alters radically.
