What's the best weapon you've cone across in fallout 4?

I bought a gauss rifle from some vendor. Never used it until recently, modified it and now it does 364 damage, more if I charge the shots

    Haven't gotten the Gauss yet. The best weapon depends on how you are using it. So taking out an enemy from a distance is one thing, but then taking out enemies like a scorpion, etc. up close with no warning requires something that works well up close and has a high fire rate.
