renewing drivers permit?!!?

my drivers permit expired3 months ago and i want to renew it . i live in Los Angeles California. do i have to retake the test or just pay a fee to renew it ? i never took the drivers test and failed or anything.... it just expired

    You'll have to start over and write the test again.

    California has a really simple rule when it comes to renewing learner's permits. They don't do it, not for anyone for any reason, no exceptions.

    Don't know about where you live, but where I am, an expired permit means you need to rewrite the test and pay the fee again. We're very careful not to let it expire because it's a pain in the butt to get it again.

    You have to start fresh, Hiihave. You have to apply, pay, and be tested all over again.
