Am I having heart palpitations?

Hello all

Over the last few weeks I've been having a runny nose and cough. Have felt congested as well. Just over the last week or so I've noticed I can feel my heart beat all of a sudden and j usually didn't. I have been having shortness of breath but I think that is because I've been contested. (Every time i have a cold of some sort I have shortness of breath). Any tips or info would be great. I haven't had these before and I test my resting heart beat via Apple Watch it is normal around 60 or so. But if I climb a flight Of stairs it goes to abut 100 or so. My chest feels congested and tight as if I had a cold. Thanks

You may have an arrhythmia. You should go to your doctor and get and EKG test done right away. You may have nothing at all but it is much better to be sure. My mother used to feel dizzy and never got checked out. After a year of dizziness and weakness, she nearly fainted and got hospitalized. Turns out, she had 35 heart rate. They saved her though and now I make sure she eats healthy and gets excercise and she's doing great. Her heartbeat fluctuates though. It'll be 70 one minute then 50 another then 40 another but mostly 60's. But get checked out, get and EKG. They may even do a stress test (which is when they put you on a treadmill and measure your bp and pulse) Good luck, and you'll be fine!
