What can I use as a photography backdrop?

I wanted a black and white backdrop but they re so expensive on Amazon! I was thinking of just getting the backdrop itself without the stand but I have nowhere to hang it up. I have no bare walls in my house that I can use, and sheets are always wrinkly. Even if i did want to use a sheet, how could I hang it up??

Instead of going to Amazon, I suggest going to bhphotovideo.com and checking out thier backdrops and backdrop stands. They often have better prices than Amazon and they don't charge sales tax for those who don't live in NY.

If you still find their stuff too expensive, make a stand out of PVC pipe. It'll be lighter than wood and it's a lot easier to design and build it. Plus, if you don't glue it all together, you take the stand apart for easy storage.

Make a frame with timber from you local DIY store.

You can make it fold with a bit of work.

Then stretch the sheet onto the frame and staple into place.

Use a steamer to get out any creases.
