why do people consider videogames were you cant attack the enemies or monsters scary?

except for soma an outlast games no other game were you couldn't use a weapon sll disappoint me amnesia slenderman lurker layers of fear these games basically bore me while the few games that actually scared me or had me on edge from being a kid to the age I am now all had weapons such as doom, resident evil 1 through 4 silent hill 1&2 shadows of Chernobyl metro fatal frame siren so honestly I don't get it whats scary about no way of defense it just feels to gimicy to me to try an getpeople scared of a game
