Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Parliament building, to kill the King and restore a Catholic monarchy.
The mask is use because of the movie, V for Vandetta.
Update: His face was badly burned, so he wears a mask. He chose Guy Fawkes, because he saw him as a hero of the people that was trying to expose the government's oppressive laws.
