Why do Christian men strive to date/ pursue a relationship with a woman who has never had sex before?
I moved with my family from a 3rd world country to a first world country and I grew up in a very devout Christian community in both countries. The Christians have always been really nice, but I have also met some really not nice ones.
In all this 21 years, no guy in church ever asked me on a date or anything. I also knew about a Christian girl who was dating a Christian guy and she was gang raped one night. After that he stopped dating her.
Normally, the my Christian girlfriends have been "virgins" and the Christian guys pursuing them end up marrying them (they don't have sex before marriage).
I feel like this practise is REALLY outdated and to a lot of women in the church who've been molested as children or raped/ assaulted, it seems that men kind of bypass them to get to the so called "virgins".
One of the reasons why I left the church. I ended up having sex too (with someone I care about) but also, another reason to do this for me was to piss of the church cause I'm a woman and how dare I have a sex life before marriage. No husband for me! ;)

For some men, it may be a trophy situation. For others, it may fulfill some vague cultural need to "marry a virgin." For some, it might also be that they suspect they are not very good at sex or at satisfying a partner, and so they would prefer a partner who doesn't know anything about it.
As far as I am concerned, it's silly. I would never want to marry a virgin, nor would I think a virgin is more desirably than a woman who understands sex and knows what she likes.

The Bible forbids sex before marriage. Why would Christians disobey the Bible and date other Christians who had violated this law?
If a woman was raped or molested then a Christian will still be at liberty to marry her, but one isn't obligated to.

Hypocrisy has driven many away from religion. Your reaction is correct to their attitude. Why the chase after virgins and abandoning others who had a bad experience is just self glorification of who the men think they are, "God's gift to women".
My wife and I weren't virgins when we married. We had events (not with each other) before we met. We were married 40 years, but I lost her a few years back.

It's not outdated; God's commandments do not change over time. They want virgins for wives because that's the Biblical way to do it.
