I have no idea what to do with my life.?
I'm a 17 year old guy with pretty bad social anxiety and awkwardness. I have no real skills except for being able to type at 64 words per minute. I either want to be an accountant, but that takes more classroom time which I hate already, or an electrician. Will my social anxiety get in the way of both jobs? If not, what job would suit someone like me? I wish I had more time :/...

Trust me every 17 year old has worried about their future. I didn't know what I wanted to do until I was 19. Get to know yourself, find what you like to do, and then do it. I'm sorry you are dealing with social anxiety, I did too in high school. I will let you know that things do get better (cliche) but only with hard work. Work hard to change your anxious thoughts. You are in total control of your life and happiness. Success is a decision. Pain will always be in your life, but its not how many times you get knocked down, as long as you stand up 1 more time than you fall down. Its a simple equation man. Set your mind to something, and do it.

To work as an electrician, you will have to apprentice with someone, which requires many hours of training (more education). Also as an electrician, you will have to interact with clients and employers. If you are an independent electrician, you will have to hustle to get jobs, which will require more interaction, advertising, etc. Accountants usually work in office settings which, to introverts and those with social anxiety, feel like slow death by strangulation (small talk in the break room *shudder*). I have pretty bad social anxiety, but you can't let that dictate the course of your life. I worked as a waitress for years to intentionally confront my fears and anxiety, and while I certainly didn't "overcome" it, I did learn how to fake my way through social interactions in a polite manner. Don't limit your job prospects just because of your anxiety. There are "dream" jobs for folks like us, but they are few and far between, so it's best to learn how to deal with the world now while you;re young :)

Learn how to code and be a programmer, you can teach yourself through various methods and take certification tests to acquire jobs, that or compile online research for people. Both of these jobs are in demand and can be done at home with little or no interaction with people
