Are liberals trying to base wages on things they think they need rather than what companies can afford to pay?

That's pretty much the picture, here's the thing. You are not supposed to stay in an entry level job forever, it is just a starting point. Now if you choose to stay in that position, don;t gripe about it, change it. If you can't make enough in the jobplace you are at, apply to another job. You know why fast food is so cheap, because the help is low paid and everyone knows that, we have known that. Do you want a $5 Big Mac? I wouldn't buy a Big Mac for $5 and neither would anyone else, guess what, no more McDonalds now how much does that fry cook make?? A lot less, unemployment is not good pay, not even minimum wage

NO - LISTEN UP, FROM SOMEONE WHO WORKED AMONGST THE CORPORATE ELITE WHO WERE GETTING CORPORATE WELFARE DOLLARS - YOUR DOLLARS.

    1. While CEO pay has gone UP by 500%, worker pay has stagnated.

    2. I'm a small business owner who has NEVER paid just the minimum wage. It's insulting. I give up a little bit to assure my people earn what they're worth. And I save a ton of time and money on human resources. My folks rarely quit.

    3. Why do you think some companies and some states have increased their own wages and minimum wage? And why do you think it's working?

    4. Sadly, the Republican party is owned by a bunch of people who live on corporate welfare - we spend THREE TIMES MORE on that than on social welfare. For some reason, Republicans think a corporate jet write-off is more important than a worker feeding his kids.

I once figured out what a particular health insurance CEO made per hour, EVERY HOUR of the year. It was around $30,000.00. Per hour. Even when home for Thanksgiving. While one mile away someone is sick on the street.

Liberals are trying to set wages based on how much people need to be able to live outside of poverty. Seems like a reasonable standard.

If a company can't exist without financially exploiting its employees, maybe it shouldn't.

Wages are not based upon what an employer can afford to pay but rather upon the Law of Supply and Demand

When the Supply of Workers greatly exceeds the Demand for jobs then wages go down

When the Demand for workers greatly exceeds the Supply of Workers then wages go up

That is correct and they fail to realize that we are on the verge of a second industrial revolution where automation will likely replace between 25 and 50% of the existing jobs.

So making it more attractive to automate is not conducive to job security.

At this point it would not cost much to replace cash registers and cashiers with self order and self pay kiosk.

Plus there has been a recent development with the creation of an automated burger maker that can be programmed with your specific order.

Then we have self driving cars which once they are perfected will replace taxi drivers and truck drivers.

Liberals' voter base is unskilled, uneducated people. They want to dangle the carrot in front of them.

When the companies go belly up, the Liberals will demand they open the doors for work, any way.
