Why do liberals refer to the war in Iraq as being illegal when Congress voted on it and gave it their stamp of approval?

There was never a vote to go to war. The only vote was to give the president the power to use force in the event of an emergency where there was not time to convene the full congress to vote on war.

Of course Bush immediately used that to start the war. I remember the vote and the vast majority discouraged Bush from using force until we could get a stronger commitment from our allies. Of course he ignored that too, so we footed the bill.

You are sadly misinformed. They voted to give Bush the right to make that decision, and make it he did. Congress never voted to go to war. Illegal? If lying to the American people about his and Cheney's personal obsession with Hussein in order to go to war with the result of thousands of deaths and injuries isn't illegal please tell me how. It amounts to using our military, not to mention borrowing money from China, and adding billions to our debt by using false pretenses. Deliberate misuse of federal money based on lies isn't against the law?
