Heard a different story as a kid about how Santa delivers gifts. Anyone else been told this story or just me?

I was told as a kid that the elves went with Santa when he was giving gifts. Santa himself would give the good kids presents, while the elves would drag the bad kids out of bed and give them a beating. Was anyone else told this version as a kid, or just me?

    This sounds like a version of the Santa Claus (St Nicholaus) story. The saint is accompanied by a devil figure called Krampus who carries birch rods for bad children. Somehow Krampus got turned into Elves in your parents' story.

    haha no. My parents never told me about santa at all bc they thought it meant lying to your children

    Sounds like a version of 'Black Peter' or 'Krampus', look them up, they are Eastern European folk tales.
