Is Accent flavor enhancer bad for you?
i just purchase accent flavor enhancer not knowing too much about it.I heard it's a MSG and MSG is not good for you.I have high blood pressure and when I seen it's only 60 mg of sodium I just went and bought it since it's not high in sodium.I heard that it swells the taste buds on your tongue but I don't really know lol.Should I trash it or keep it and why is it bad for you as I heard it was?

MSG has been used for centuries in almost all Asian food for enhancer, complex flavor profile and that umami after taste. If you are used to eating it, you may not have much effect like headache, fast heartbeat, uneven palpitation, thirsty, dry mouth etc. even those regular msg users will have some effect. To counteract that problem, after your meal just eat some fruits like grapes, banana and the symptoms will go away immediately

MSG (monosodium glutamate) is a naturally-occurring substance commonly found in various fermented foods, such as tomato paste, dried mushrooms, anchovies, aged hard cheeses (like Parmesan and Romano), soy sauce, miso paste, fish sauce, etc. It is the primary substance which produces that elusive "sixth taste" (besides salty, sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy) often described as "savory" in English, but more accurately summarized in the Japanese word "umami". MSG is a source of sodium as well as simple carbohydrates (glutamate is a simple sugar, related to glucose, also known as blood sugar), so should be used in moderation in people suffering from either high blood pressure or diabetes.
The so-called "MSG effect" has not been verified by any scientific studies.
