Why is self harm wrong/ bad? Please read !?

I'm a recovering cutter , slowly I'm learning that way more people than I thought have this problem but why is this copeing method so bad?I know eeveryone says it is unhealthy but why is it. You get hurt all the time your body heals just the same if you did it international or not plus you are not hurting any one but your self.. I'm stopping this habit because I'm addicted , and no longer gaining controle over my life through cutting. so your answers won't provent me from "getting better". I'm just trying to understand how a non cutter sees this problem.

Cutter or not, a person can have a valid opinion on the subject. I think it is a mistake to assume that all cutters approve of it and all non-cutters don't. That's a way of dismissing people's opinions, and I for one find it offensive.

That said, cutting is a self-destructive, violent act which would be a criminal offense if someone else did it to you. Just as suicide is murder. Broadly speaking, evil is the motivation to destroy good, including life, happiness, cooperation, and communication. Physically injuring someone qualifies. The reason people "cut" is suppressed anger, same as the motivation to cut or injure someone else, just turned inward instead of outward. A better solution is to discover why you are so angry and try to get relief from that by removing it - rather than acting it out.

Within the parameters of self-preservation, self-harm is obviously wrong simply because harm and preservation are opposites and are mutually-exclusive. But outside the parameters or contexts of self-preservation, no one could ever prove that compulsive self-mutilation is wrong, simply because as a free agent you can choose anything you want for your body, up to and including death! (I'm not saying you SHOULD harm yourself!) Philosophically, cutting yourself uncontrollably (compulsively) is wrong only if you don't really want to do it. In this sense you must define for yourself what is right or wrong for YOU.

Most people probably wish you wouldn't do that because perhaps they like you or like something about you, and don't want you to risk your death. That could include strangers as well as those who know you.

But other than within the context of, say, western values, or within the context of enjoying your company or presence, neither I nor anyone else could ever prove to you that this is wrong.

There's risk of infection, muscle damage, emotional desensitivity and other issues at play. The most troubling of these things is the way in which it drains neurotransmitters, like street drugs do. I used to cut and it made me miserable. I was never happy, sometimes sad, but always miserable and numb. Only when I stopped the cycle, did I find relief and each positive step lead to another. Life is a process of growth and adapting to adversity. It's okay to be wrong, it's okay to make mistakes, but it's not okay to do these things knowingly. Your collective conscious is made up of trillions upon trillions of cells, which are a community. We don't nuke cities and rebuild them to improve them- We work with our communities to provide a better future for our children.

As an OCD action it is anxiety driven there are more positive ways to relieve anxiety or better still treat the cause like mindfulness , Mi CBT , we need to understand the disease so one OCD action is not replaced with another.
