Why do Europeans no longer have colonies in Africa and Asia?
Colonies are an excellent idea to me, bringing Christ and civilization to uncivilized pagans. They are also an excellent source of endless slave labor, money and natural resources. Why does nobody own colonies anymore?

Because the countries that were their colonies wanted to be independent, and also because it was rather too expensive for European nations to continue to maintain those colonies.

Aircraft carries. At one time you needed ports to project power. A place safe for your ships to stop repair restock and move on from. Ships were small & wood. Then came steam. Coal or a place to store it to keep your ships moving. Trade, you had a monoply at your port. War Europe was always at war with each other. Movable islands are cheaper & easyer to keep.

There are still colonies, though they're really only controlled by late colonial powers such as the USA, a lot of colonies declared independence or were granted independence around the world wars however.

The Americans made them give them all up after WWII. It just took a while (1979 for Rhodesia to become Zimbabwe, for example)

Because it involves massive human rights violations, for starters. Do you really need more of a reason than that?
