Isn't this the best reason for having firearms.?

Scientists have shown unquestionable data, that people that have the capacity to shoot back--live longer

    I doubt you have any scientific data to show that, because if you take into account that the person with the gun is more likely to;

    Commit Suicide

Have a criminal shoot you with your own gun

Accidentally shooting yourself or someone else

Be shot by a family member in a domestic dispute,

I believe the scientific evidence will prove that "being able to shoot back" does not give you a longer life span but in fact makes it more likely you will be dead long before you have a chance to shoot back.

But, shouldn't public health officials actually study this issue and other issues involving the reduction of gun violence? Wouldn't studying the issue be a good idea? But the NRA convinced the Congress to pass a law banning federal spending on ANY scientific studies to reduce gun violence. Are they afraid that the science will contradict their rhetoric about more guns make people safer? They seem to have convinced you of that lie!

No. Personally, I think the best reason for having a firearm is to hunt in the event of civilization collapse.

I'd like to see this scientific data. The fact that people with the capacity to shoot back have a higher probability of accidentally shooting themselves would interfere with their ability to live longer.

It is a pretty good reason.

Now lets see this data you refer to. Because all the data I have seen...... says exactly the opposite.

Statistically speaking, guns are rarely used in self-defense, and thus cannot be defended on the grounds that they can reliably defuse crimes while they are happening.

The NRA bases its claim that guns are used millions of times a year in self-defense on a discredited study from 1995 that has not been validated in a single academic paper.

Concealed Carry Laws are not associated with decreases in crime, and sophisticated analyses show that, in some cases, there is an increase in aggravated assaults associated with concealed carry laws.

The best studies to date, using proxies to estimate gun availability, show that more guns lead to more crime.

A 90-year-old, 96-pound, woman can keep a 20-year-old, 200-pound, criminal from hurting her if she has a firearm in her hand. That's a pretty good reason if you ask me,

Except that households that have firearms in them have MUCH HIGHER rates of gun-shot deaths, so you are LYING.

Since you love gun-shot death so much, why not use your guns on yourself? Do the world a favor.

No, the 2nd Amendment is the best reason. LOL

And no source to that "unquestionable data" offered. I'm questioning it.

...he says, without posting the data.

You'll excuse me if I don't just take your word for it.

Not true at the current time. Gun ownership slightly increases your likelihood of dying.
