    Viruses and bacteria are found in the atmosphere. They don't swim, but they are carried by the air and they are not visible to the naked eye.

    Not myself. I did read a fascinating Sci-Fi book once that had a type of "bird" that "swam*" through the ground, causing minor earthquakes and subsidence in houses, they solved the problem by putting an air gap in the foundations.
