Being the leader of the group is like being an alpha of a pack. The leader has to take more responsibilities and should maintain the unity of the group. And yea, being the leader is a lot of work. But, it kinda gives you a great feeling when you achieve something. For ex: When a group performs something amazing, the leader takes more credits. And sure, you can choose to be a member instead if you want the easy way out.
