Why are vegetarians so dumb?

Why do they care so much about killing animals humanely and treating them nicely before they die? First, "killing humanely" is an oxymoron. Killing in the first place is inhumane so there's no way to do it humanely. If you don't want them to feel pain, then don't kill them. And why does it matter how you treat them if you are just going to kill them anyway? They were dead the moment you got them. They never had or have any chance of survival. They are going to die. Why does it matter what happens before that?

We're all going to die. Everyone that is born will die, it doesn't mean that we should live a life of pain. Even a lot of people that eat animals and animal products don't have your point of view. It's not just vegetarians that care for the welfare of animals.

And even if you don't care about the welfare of animals you should still care about how they are raised, what they are fed, and how they are killed etc as all of this will have an impact on you, the quality of the end produce, and your health and the health of your loved ones.

And while what I'm about to say doesn't imply to all vegetarians as it would depend on their reason for becoming one, I would guess that they would like them to be killed humanely (so does most of the population), but would rather them not be killed at all.

I hope that you're not serious because everything you say is wrong and it would be a little worrything that you could be SO wrong!

Some vegetarians, some vegans and some non-vegetarians are dumb. I wish that vegetarians had the monopoly on dumbness, but they don't. There isn't a relationship between intelligence and what a person chooses to eat.

There is something seriously wrong with anyone who does NOT want animals to be slaughtered humanely and treated nicely before they are slaughtered. This is born out by the fact that over the centuries laws, rules and practices have been changed to improve the treatment of animals and that just about everyone still has some interest and some concerns.

"Killing humanely" is certainly not an oxymoron and implies no kind of contradiction. I think maybe you don't know what "humane" means. Basically, it means "with as little distress or pain as is practically possible". If you had a dog that was old, ill and in distress or pain, you could ask a vet to give it a lethal injection so that it just went to sleep and died. Or you could drown it or beat it to death. See a difference?

Any vegetarian who was especially concerned about farm animals wouldn't want them "killed" at all but would want the practice of breeding animals for food to end.

Like I say, I hope you are a troll and that you aren't really as stupid as your question.

Update: I really can't believe you are serious. I certainly hope not. If you really can't see why it is wrong to needlessly mistreat animals, not to care at all about their well-being then there is something wrong with you, something missing. No one can "explain" why it matters how we treat animals, or why rape or racism is wrong, or why you shouldn't steal. You can either see it, or you can't.

I think you're confusing the word "vegetarian" with "animal welfarist." Not all vegetarians are like that. Most vegans (a type of vegetarian) seem to be animal liberationists (meaning they would rather see animals not be killed at all)

I understand why a person would want animal welfare. Animal liberation isn't going to happen any time soon for the vast majority of animals in cages right now. It helps relieve SOME suffering, to fight for larger cages (or banning cages all together) or to ban certain practices like chick culling via grinder. I mean, we're ALL gonna die. You're gonna die, I bet you care very deeply about what happens to you before that.

Source(s): even if I'm happy to see animal welfare changes, I'd much rather see them go free.

Many vegetarians don't want the animals to be bred and farmed and to be killed at all. It's conscientious meat eaters who often lead the call for more humane farming and slaughter methods. Vegetarians will also call for those things, but not because they want to start eating animals again. They do it because they don't want those animals that other people eat to suffer. So it's not dumb, it makes sense if you think more about it.

Also, of course it matters how you treat other animals, just like it matters how you treat other people. We're all going to die. You're going to die. Do you want a miserably deprived life in the meantime? Or do you want others to be kind to you or to at least leave you alone? What happens to you matters because it matters to you. What happens to animals matters because it matters to them.

What you do to others matters for another reason too: it should matter to you. Your thoughts on any topic are never isolated. If you have malicious thoughts or intentions towards other animals or people, that will affect other areas of your thought. It may also subconsciously affect your actions and personality and the way you come across to others. You may find it harder to feel content, and it will also affect the type of people who want to spend time with you.

I'm vegetarian because the amount of animals most people eat in their diets is ridiculous, not many people that eat meat think when they eat something like 10 chicken wings 5 chickens at least died for me to eat that. If everyone in the world ate meat their wouldn't be enough to go around anyway, so by me not eating meat means there is more for you to enjoy. Its also disgusting if you think about it I'm eating something that died about a week ago. You wouldn't go near a dead person or dead animal in the street so why do you want to eat it? Its also quiet selfish of humans to think that they deserve to eat other animals, when a person gets bitten by a shark or killed by an animal the animal gets put down. We are all born to die so why don't be just live in prisons our whole lives until we die. Why does it matter what happens before they die is like saying we shouldn't experience nice things because we are all going to die anyway.

Actually killing humanely refers to killing with the least amount of pain and suffering so it is not an oxymoron despite how much you wish it could be. Second how you treat an animal no matter what it;s ultimate purpose says something about you. It matters what happens before that since in many cases it improves their products whether it be milk or eggs (as that is what vegetarians do eat) without having to inject them with a wide variety of different medications.

There is such a thing a humane killing. A captive bolt gun causes no pain therefore its humane. A bullet to the head causes no pain therefore its humane. Chopping the head off a chicken in painless so its humane.

There's nothing wrong at all with raising an animal for food the killing it. Its the animals purpose. To be food.
