Windows 10 back to Windows 7 (after a pc reset)?

I know I'm an idiot.

Short story: I upgraded to Windows 10 and didn't like it and thought that if I reset my pc then it would go back to windows 7 because I had upgraded the same day. I'm still stuck with Windows 10 and now I don't have the option in settings>update&security>recovery to downgrade.

Long story: This all started because I wanted to record some songs on the piano and put them on youtube. I got iTalk on my iPhone6 to record better quality audio. Those clips were then downloaded onto iTunes through FileShare. Then I downloaded them to my PC files as AIFF. Which isn't compatible for uploading on youtube. So then I tried to download Windows Movie Maker so I could put it with some random clips or slides to make it into an mp4 or mpeg, but Windows Movie Maker would not install. It said that I needed to update (did not specify what needed updating). I assumed that meant Windows 10 because they had been nagging me to update every 5 min. So I updated. Then I tried to install windows movie maker again and it did not work. So now, I still don't have a program for video editing/file conversion and now I have a sucky layout with "Cortana" nosing into my business every which way. I would like to go back to factory settings, Windows 7, and start all over again. HELP PLEASE!!!!

    Your blaming W10 when you should be blaming yourself. You are having issues with the OS due to not letting the update configure. If you go back to W7 you WILL occur the exact same issues only difference being the 350+ updates to download & configure.

    The main issue with W10 is the user logs on and expects miracles. Well that's not the case. W10 needs at least 1 - 2 hours to configure. No different from previous OS's which also take 3 - 4 hours post logon due to the fact there are 350+ updates to download & configure.

    Once W10 has finished the installation and you are logged in and on the Desktop screen, locate the HDD light. You will notice the light to be illuminated or blinking and the Taskbar will flash periodically. Windows is now configuring the installation, meaning all Windows & accessory driver updates. Allow the system to run unimpeded until the light stops flashing (may take 1 - 2 hrs). If the unit is not equipped with a HDD light, allow the system to run unimpeded for at least two hours.

    DO NOT attempt to update any drivers or run games, the configuration process is taking care of this. Do not RESTORE or REFRESH during this process. You may cause your system to CRASH.

    You will run into issues if you do not allow for configuration such as programs not working correctly, slow jerky mouse movements, or sound issues to name a few.

    Do not allow the computer to sleep or CPU to shut down. Change your power settings until W10 is configured

    Restart & enjoy . . .

    \\☺

    P.S.

    I have updated 6 laptops & 1 desktop with Home & Pro. They are all purring like a kitten

    Going back to your original OS is a good idea. Windows 10 is a nightmare of an OS that is going to get worse as time goes by. Between the forced updates to the built in back door you will have no idea what is happening to your puter.

    Windows 10 is so bad that M$ is now resorting to strong arm tactics to force the use of it. They are using every trick possible to force people to it.

    If you have one of the new CPU M$ is demanding you have 10 or they won't support the system.

    http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/221389-microsof...

    Back up everything important and then try clicking Start, Settings, Update & security, Recovery, Go back to (last version)

    If that does not work it will depend on if M$ delete your recovery partition. It is my opinion that M$ deletes the recovery partition to keep people from going back to their old OS. I guess if you write as many bad OSes as they do you got to find a way to make it look like everyone likes it. If M$ deleted your recovery partition then you will need to order the recovery DVD's from the manufacturer.

    Keep in mind if the recovery partition is there and you use it then all data will be lost. You should back up anything you want to keep.

    Try recovery from the recovery partition

    When you press the power button start tapping the F key for your puter and the BIOS menu will open. Select recovery from the menu, answer the question and the recovery should begin. Depending on your puter this will take one to two hours.

    Manufacturers BIOS menu F key

    HP/Compaq ESC

    ASUS Del

    Sony F2

    Samsung F4

    Gateway, eMachines F10

    Acer, Dell, Fijitsu, Gigabyte, Toshiba F12

    Your BIOS menu should look something like this. Yours might be different. I am posting this to give you an idea of what it looks like.

    ESC = BIOS menu

    F1 = System Info

    F2 = System Diagnostic

    F9 = Boot Device options

    F10 = BIOS Setup

    Make sure when you go back that you DO NOT let these updates in. We just found out that M$ is now hard coding this spyware ( back door ) into Windows 7 and 8. Look for these updates and see if you have them. KB 3068708: KB 3068708 KB 3022345: KB 3075249: KB 3080149: These updates give 7 and 8 the same spying capability as 10 has.

I did not design it, I did not build it, I did not break it, but I am the one who can fix it. What that means is that I have spent a life time taking these things apart and seeing how they are made. The difficult we do right away, the impossible just takes a little longer. I hear voices, so please be quite so I can listen to them.
